HEERHUGOWAARD MUNICIPALITY MOW THEIR SPORTS FIELDS WITH SPEARHEAD

In 2003, the municipality of Heerhugowaard, Holland began mowing all of their playing fields with a Spearhead Trident 5000 Flail Mower. Since then they have continued to use Spearhead machines to effectively manage the requirements of sports facilities throughout the area, building up considerable experience at a time when achieving a manicured result at an economical cost remained a prerequisite. The experience gained throughout the last 8 years has led to the purchase of a second machine from distributors Hissink & Zn.

Municipalities operator, Hans Floris, was delighted to receive the brand new Trident 5000, with a working width of 5.2 metres, automatic wing disengage gearboxes, hydraulic track eliminators and electronic control.

Heerhugowaard municipality decided to purchase a new Trident 5000 based on the low maintenance costs experienced with the previous machine and more importantly the level of finish that has been achieved on the local sports fields, often the envy of visiting teams from outside of the region.

After 8 years of use, calculations show that the previous Trident 5000 mowed some 12,500 hectares (30,888 acres). Throughout that period Heerhugowaard municipality recognised a 90% reduction in maintenance costs compared to a previous trailed cylinder mower. This alone is extremely important in a period when the budgets of local authorities are under much scrutiny. With the Spearhead Trident 5000, calculations show that the cost of mowing a sports field is now below €4.

Throughout the previous 8 years, Hans Floris claims to have cut in all types of conditions, both wet and dry, cold and warm, nevertheless the Trident 5000 has performed consistently to leave a perfect finish.

The experience of the employees of Heerhugowaard confirms that it is possible to achieve a great finish at a lower cost.

With the message now out the number of Spearhead Flail Mowers operating on Dutch Sports Fields continues to grow.
